Since he founded the company in 1977, Terry has guided Mariposa’s growth from a small sole proprietorship to a premier full-service landscape firm. Many members of the responsible, dedicated team he leads today have been with him for decades.
Terry continues to be directly involved in the key aspects of the business: client satisfaction, operational efficiency, recruitment and training, quality control and safety. “I’ve always liked to make things grow,” says Terry. “These days, my focus is on nurturing and growing the people of Mariposa to deliver an even better and broader range of services to more customers than ever before. After so many years, seeing our clients enjoy and appreciate a well executed and installed landscape is still the most rewarding part of my job.”
Degreed in Ornamental Horticulture and holding multiple industry certifications, Terry has amassed extensive experience in the landscape services field. He is widely known and respected for his broad knowledge of all aspects of installation, maintenance and tree care. Terry is a member of the California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA), the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) and the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). He was honored by California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, College of Agriculture as “Alumni of the Year” in 2006.

Antonio Valenzuela
A driving force behind Mariposa’s continuing growth and success, Antonio Valenzuela collaborates with all division managers to ensure that client and company goals are fully met.
Drawing on over 25 years in the green industry, Antonio applies his keen computer and mathematical skills to enhancing the company’s operational efficiency. He develops and implements yearly goals and budgets, oversees quality of work and safety practices, and addresses fleet and equipment needs.
Antonio’s decades of experience in irrigation and computer controls have made him the company’s top expert in solving complicated irrigation challenges.
Antonio spearheads Mariposa’s extensive training program. He creates a customized program for each employee and works closely with individuals to meet specific goals. Many employees move up in the company, learning a wealth of new skills at each level. The result is a pool of well-trained team members who have expertise in many areas and can respond with speed and efficiency to the needs of clients. Antonio’s rise in the company over the last 19 years attests to the value of nurturing the talent of Mariposa’s employees.
